It is vital we help Friendly Center kids stay connected to a safe place, have fun and be supported in one the most crucial periods in their lives. Because youth are a major part of our programs and services and we have titled our youth programming, Project Success. Project Success serves the youth residing in and attending schools in North Toledo. Project Success is also dependent on having partnerships. Some of our partners include The Learning Club, Cub and Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts of Western Ohio. The recreation activities include art classes, co-ed basketball league plus a newly-formed Cub Scout program. Like any of our programs volunteers play a major role.

One of the cornerstones of Project Success is after-school homework and tutoring assistance. The after-school program includes transporting K-12 grade students from their school to The Friendly Center and putting them in a classroom environment with qualified adults to assist them in understanding and completing their homework assignments. We also offer the youth in the after-school program an opportunity to participate in recreational games and an occasional field trip. During the summer we conduct an eight-week enrichment program which allows the youth to explore and learn. We continue to expand this program so it can serve as many youth as possible. One method we have used to facilitate more families is to expand the program so it is offered at various community locations to reach those with transportation barriers.
